Senate Bill 357 allows for the production and possession of hemp by licensed growers for commercial and research purposes in Indiana. Growers and handlers of hemp seeds must first obtain a hemp seed production license. Currently, hemp production is still governed by the Farm Bill, Sect 7606, for research with institution of higher learning. Things are moving slowly, but by 2017 a small number of farmers should be allowed to participate in the industrial hemp program.
