Current legislation allows for the Montana Department of Agriculture to oversee a commercial hemp licensing program, requiring commercial growers to use certified seeds. For now, you can contact the Department of Agriculture directly in order to apply for a ‘tentative hemp license’. The Dept of Agriculture is working with the feds to develop a more organized pilot program for 2017, which would allow for limited commercial sales of industrial hemp.
